Resveratrol Found To Counteract Toxic Proteins Linked to Alzheimer’s Disease

Specifically, researchers from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York have discovered that resveratrol neutralizes improperly folded proteins that can collect plaques associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Resveratrol, however, does not affect the benign (properly folded) proteins.   According to the study’s lead researcher, Peter Tessier, “We've shown how resveratrol has very interesting selectivity to target and neutralize a select set of toxic peptide isoforms…".

    My wife is taking Nemanda for memory and mood change.
    Is it OK to take resveratrol with the Nemenda and is this likely to help
    retard the growing memory loss?

    I would speak with your wife's physician about taking resveratrol.

    Based on current research, it looks like resveratrol might help fight Alzheimer's disease - but of course, resveratrol interactions with certain drugs are unknown. Good luck with your wife's treatment.
