Resveratrol Protects Lung Cells From Damage From Cigarette Smoke
Scientists at the University of Rochester pretreated the lung cells of one group of mice with resveratrol (a SIRT1 activator) while pretreating the lung cells of another group of mice with sirtinol (a SIRT1 inhibitor). The researchers then exposed the lung cells of both groups of mice to cigarette smoke. The mice that were pretreated with resveratrol had less lung damage than the mice pretreated with the SIRT1 inhibitor. Might resveratrol be used to reduce lung damage of smokers?

although, as it sounds slightly inhumane and unfortunate that we have to use rats to test for our own good, but this is an amazing discovery. i have been taking resveratrol for only about two weeks now. have yet to feel it's effects. i, myself am not a smoker - at least not of cigarettes lol so this is still good news for me, i suppose
